These beautiful and delicate wild roses grow natively all over Minnesota. We had arrived at the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary just after the rain stopped. The roses are just now beginning to bloom so there are new rose buds everywhere and having arrived just after the rain stopped they were all covered in rain drops.
Hydrangeas are very common around the Minneapolis Minnesota, there are almost an uncountable number of varieties. Most are summer blooming, so all over the city there are new blossoms opening up. Today’s sparse petals will soon be dense clusters of blooms covering the shrubs. It is a beautiful time. This shot is early in the morning with overcast skies, the soft morning light filtering through the leaves fill the image with rich green tint.
In Minnesota the Spring is sudden and intense, with trees and spring bulbs flowering everywhere. This is one of my favorite times of year, crabapple trees blooming, their perfume filling the air. By getting inside the tree I get to explore the blossoms lit by the filtered and dynamic light caused by the sun shining through the branches and leaves.
Just outside my front door on on a bright May morning there is this shub just entering full bloom. I love flowering trees and shrubs, the leaves modify the light giving wonderful soft light and cool shadows that highlight the beauty of their flowers.
