Smooth Wild Rose
These beautiful and delicate wild roses grow natively all over Minnesota. We had arrived at the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary just after the rain stopped. In Minnesota the Spring is sudden and intense, with trees and spring bulbs flowering everywhere. This is one of my favorite times of year, crabapple trees blooming, their perfume filling the air. By getting inside the tree I get to explore the blossoms lit by the filtered and dynamic light caused by the sun shining through the branches and leaves.
Yellow of Summer

Soft Pink Spiraea
Spiraea is a huge grouping of flowering shrubs and trees we mostly notice them in the late spring and early summer when they produce clumps of usually white flowers. This specific variety, whose specific name I wish I knew, has large white blossoms with deep pink rings in the middle.
